Reels. Vertical cuts made for Instagram and WhatsApp status. They usually come as part of a film package rather than something you buy on their own.

Which films does your wedding need?

Start with the people who will watch, not the list of products.

If relatives are flying in, or watching from abroad. Ask for a teaser and a next-day edit. Together they give the people who could not come something to watch within days, not months.

If your reception is a big one. Consider a same-day edit. Guests who were at the ceremony see it again, and guests who missed it see it for the first time. Plan it with your venue early.

If you want one film to rewatch. The highlight film is the one most couples return to. If the budget stretches to a single film, this is usually the one to choose.

If the ceremony is the heart of your wedding. A Hindu muhurtham or a church ceremony happens once, at its own pace, and nobody can ask for a repeat. The full documentary keeps every part of it, in order, including the parts a highlight film has to leave out.

If your wedding runs over several days. Plan the films around the days, not just the wedding day. Mehendi, haldi, sangeet and the reception each have a different mood, and a film that covers only the ceremony will miss most of them.

What to ask a videographer in Kochi before you book

How will the vows be recorded? Ask whether they use lapel microphones or rely on the camera's own audio. Wind, a noisy hall and a priest speaking from a distance can ruin footage that looks beautiful.

How many cameras cover the ceremony? One camera means one angle. If it points the wrong way at the wrong moment, that moment is gone.

Which films are included, and which cost extra? Get the list in writing, with each film named. A wedding film can mean a teaser to one studio and a full documentary to another.

When will each film arrive? A teaser, a highlight film and a documentary have very different timelines. Ask for a date for each, not one date for all of them.

Can I see a complete wedding, not just a showreel? A showreel shows a studio's best minutes. Ask to watch a full film from a wedding like yours, ideally one shot at a venue in Kochi or nearby.

How is the music handled? Songs that are not cleared can be muted or taken down when a film is shared online. Ask whether the music is licensed for sharing, and whether you can suggest songs.
